SIM HOUSTON MEMBER BENEFITS

SIM Houston is a non-profit IT organization designed to bring IT professionals together for networking, technology events, career development, and charity give-back for STEM and mentorship initiatives. Our members include CIOs, CISOs, senior IT executives, prominent academicians, and other leading IT professionals. We have over 250 members in our local chapter and growing. We encourage our members to collaborate on their ideas and share best practices. SIM Houston's mission is to provide a platform for IT teams to continue to grow their network and build their careers

Membership Qualifications

Corporate Membership

The individual must be an IT practitioner in a company performing IT work.

We offer a flat discounted rate for up to 10 active individuals in the same organization.

Practitioner

The individual must be an IT practitioner with current employment, holding a position of manager or above, and in a company where the individual is performing IT work.

Non-Practitioner

The individual or individual's company is a vendor, consultant, technical subject matter expert, or sales representative who sells products or services to the IT suite. If you hold a CIO, CTO, or executive position and your company sells to IT, your company is considered non-practitioner.

Academic

Full-time Academic at university or college contributing to the technology field.

*Our local chapter allows non-practitioners to join SIM Houston under specific requirements. To be eligible, the non-practitioner must sign up four new IT practitioners to SIM Houston in 12 months. In addition, there are also many opportunities to sponsor our meetings and events, allowing access to our members. SIM Houston has a ratio of 85% practitioners and 15% non-practitioners, as our Membership desires to network with their colleagues.

LOCAL MEETINGS & EVENTS

With 40+ SIM chapters, members around the country have multiple opportunities to network, exchange information, and learn about what's new in the industry. Discounts to regional and national events - meet other IT executives at regional CIO Forum or at SIM's premier annual event, SIM Connect Live.

NETWORKING WITH FELLOW IT LEADERS

A key element of your SIM membership is the ability to network with fellow CXO's, share information, insights, experiences in a way that helps fellow IT leaders. There are many stories of leaders helping leaders that end with "...and that is why I am a SIM member."

PROFESSIONAL SUPPORT

SIM's Career Development Program (formerly MIT) is our go-to resource whether you are in-transition, wanting to develop new skills or simply keeping an eye out for your next opportunity. The Career Development Program offers top-notch resources from major search firms, tips for managing your career, and much more. SIM members can participate in the bi-monthly meetings and email groups where leads and advice are shared.

Our forums a powerful way to gain a professional edge through collaboration with peers across industries and geographies. The following groups are available to SIM members:

SIM CHARITY GOLF EVENT &

SIM CHARITY CLAYS EVENT

SIM Houston is known for putting on first-class events throughout the year for our members. Both events are free to our members and designed for fun and networking. In addition, these events are key fundraising venues to raise money for STEM initiatives for our local colleges and IT organizations.

QUARTERLY CXO EVENTS

Each quarter, SIM CXO Events delivers an event exclusively for a small number of CXO's covering current topics on the minds of all CXO's.

TARGETED INDUSTRY INSIGHTS

SIM's Advanced Practices Council (APC) is a community of CIOs who commission academic research on IT management topics. APC research reports feature real-world case studies and applications, providing important actionable insights that are made available to all SIM members.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

SIM's Regional Leadership Forum (RLF) is an intensive, nine-month program focused on creating authentic leaders. It is designed to help CIOs develop their high-potential IT leaders/managers. SIM members receive a discount. 

Annual Membership Fees

  • Individual For-Profit Organizations: $495

  • Individual Non-Profit Organizations: $445

  • Enterprise Basic Membership - $1,335 for three members from the same organization

  • Enterprise Membership - $3,900 for ten members in the same organization
